Piano Regulation and Voicing

- Why ? Depending on your piano it many have as many as 10,000 parts.

  • Years of normal playing , constant changes in the weather and aging causes parts to change, wear out and break.

  • The motor of your piano is the piano action. It is what connects the player to the piano. If the piano is unable to function properly it can lead to a variety of problems that hinder the player to fully enjoy the playing experience and keep the player from using the full expression abilities of the piano.

  • REGULATION - can be a simple adjustment or repair, it can readjust an entire section of the action or can be as complicated as a Thorough Regulation which can take a week or more to complete.

  • VOICING - As a piano is played the hammer that makes contact with the piano strings becomes worn with each blow. Voicing is a process that changes the tone the hammer makes when played. A very bright and harsh tone quality can be made rich and mellow. As well, a dark and muddy sounding piano can be voiced to restore the brightness in the tone.
